Canon了解觀景器始終對攝影愛好者是最重要的﹐因此除了在光學上追求達至 100%覆蓋及1.0x放大率外，亦首次在EOS 7D的觀景器中加入了可顯示不同拍攝資訊的透射式LCD (Transmissive LCD)。
這個加入了透射式LCD的智能觀景器的設計從用家角度出發，讓用家在觀景器中能自選顯示不同資訊，例如格線、自動對焦點、重點測光圈及電子水平儀等。甚至可以在手動對焦時將所有顯示資訊關閉以方便專注於構圖。
